A wide range of exhibits will be available to explore and learn about the past. Take a step back to the time of early European settlement and investigate, through hands-on activities, how people lived. This exhibition is set up for school visits. Please make bookings at chbmuseum@xtra.co.nz.

Old school
 Visitors can write with ink pens and feather quills and with slates, pencils, and chalks copying old style lettering

Old kitchen
 Visitors can make butter using old butter churns

Washing & Ironing
 Visitors can do the laundry using the wash boards and handmade soap

Clothing
 Visitors can dress-up in traditional style and fashion
 Visitors can try sewing with an old sewing machine

Old shop
 Visitors can weigh food and materials and use an old cash register and money

Old post office
 Visitors can type on the old type-writers, learn about old telephones, telegraphs and postal delivery
