How to Relax - Meditation Workshop
with Buddhist monk and teacher Kelsang Phunwang

We might have our own relaxation ritual; a long bath, listening to music, reading a book, spending time on social media, hanging out with friends, going on holiday, etc. but these things will only be relaxing if our mind is in a good space.

If our mind is peaceful, we can feel relaxed even in the most challenging situations.

‘When the turbulence of distracting thoughts subsides and our mind becomes still, a deep happiness and contentment naturally arise from within’ – Geshe Kelsang Gyatso

That peaceful mind can be a bit elusive.
Sometimes concerns about what is happening in the world in general, as well as what is going on in our personal lives can seem a bit overwhelming.
Meditation provides a chance to be still and ‘reboot’, so that we can shift negative mental and emotional habits over time and are more able to maintain a peaceful and positive mind no matter what is going on around us.

During this workshop, Kelsang Phunwang will guide us through some simple meditation techniques and practices to enjoy more and more relaxed states of mind.
With practice we can learn to become more relaxed in everything we do – at home, at work, and at play.

WHAT TO EXPECT
These classes are based on Buddha’s teachings on the mind, but you do not need to be a Buddhist to attend, or to benefit from them. There is no physical exercise involved and you can choose to sit either in a chair or on a cushion. These classes are suitable for all levels of experience.
