It's time for Love Lamp's unique combination of improv and stand-up comedy.

This month, we are joined by veteran NZ comedian and recently voted best performer at the Whangārei Fringe Festival, Barnie Duncan.

Get ready for a funny, high-energy show combining stand-up comedy with short, funny (and sometimes inappropriate) improvised sketches - we don't know what will happen, but we know it will be fun/wild/out of control!

- Doors at 7.30pm, show starts 8pm sharp.
- $10 cash door charge (no cash out available from the bar). Pre-sales through Eventfinda.
- Wine Cellar - walk through St Kevin's Arcade, down the stairs on the left

About Barney Duncan:

Barnie has recently returned to Auckland after a stint living in Melbourne for six years, where he was a mainstay on the comedy circuit. He has been making funny stuff since 2003 when he formed a company with his best friend (and legendary mime) Trygve Wakenshaw. Barnie has a vast repertoire of comedic skills, at times using turntables for DJ-based comedy (a unique sub-genre he invented), using his body for physical comedy, not using words for mime comedy, writing surreal plays for theatrical comedy, or just standing still and telling jokes for stand-up comedy. More than anything he likes to be playful, which often results in very unpredictable sets.

TV and film credits include Dane Harris on Outrageous Fortune, Piggy on Power Rangers: SPD, The God Pan on Wellington Paranormal, an ex-con on The Educators, and most recently roles on Jemaine Clement’s new show Time Bandits and a chronic sperm donor on Shortland St.

He has won a bunch of awards and has been nominated for some too:

WINNER - Best Performer, Whangārei Fringe Festival, 2022
NOMINATED - Outstanding Performance, Wellington Theatre Awards, 2022

About Love Lamp:
Nominee, Best Improv Group, NZ Comedy Guild Awards 2020 & 2021

COVID-19:
If you feel unwell, and/or are exhibiting any cold or flu symptoms, please don't come to the show. Please stay home, or consider a drive to Wellington or a trip to Countdown instead.

FAQ:
Will I need to participate as an audience member?
The first half of the show does not require audience participation. Everyone is invited to take part in the open improv jam at the end, but no pressure if you just want to watch.

What is this? What's going to happen?
An experienced stand-up comedian delivers three short sets of stand-up material throughout the show. Each set is followed by Love Lamp's fast-paced improvised scenes inspired by the comedian.

What is the "open improv jam"?
The second part of the show is an "open improv jam", which means we play improv games that everyone can participate in. It is a lot of fun (but don't worry, you can just watch!).

Are there door sales on the day?
Yes, door sales will be open from 7:30pm.
