Join us to hear a panel of creative practitioners as they explore and centre the Indigenising of spaces and practices.
This event is part of the programming for 'Ever Present: First Peoples Art of Australia'. The panel features Senior Curator Māori Art at Toi o Tāmaki, Nathan Pōhio (Waitaha, Kāti Mamoe, Kāi Tahu, Ngāti Kahungunu, Tau Iwi), Senior Curator and Head of Indigenous Programs at the Art Gallery of Western Australia, Clothilde Bullen, Wardandi (Nyoongar), Badimaya (Yamatji) peoples, and artist Yhonnie Scarce Kokatha/Nukunu/Mirning peoples.
Listen to reflections on identity and how life experiences have influenced creative responses, and the intentional (or unintentional) Indigenising of professional and creative practices. The panel will be moderated by Karl Chitham (Ngāpuhi, Te Uriroroi), director of the Dowse Art Museum, Wairau Māori Art Gallery Board member and recent King’s honours recipient for services to the arts, particularly Māori art.
