Westlake Boys and Westlake Girls present "Into the Woods" running from July 18-22.
"Into the Woods" is Stephen Sondheim’s and James Lapine’s Tony Award-winning musical. Here, many of the familiar fairy tale characters (Little Red Riding Hood, Jack of Beanstalk fame, and Cinderella) – who we thought we knew and loved so well - are confronted by life’s compelling realities. This musical boasts a soaring score and witty script. Combining the whimsy and generous humour of films such as The Princess Bride, and Tim Burton-like gothic shocks and surprises.
Westlake’s joint annual school productions have had remarkable success in recent years. In 2021 - "Socially Distanced Shakespeare" won three Auckland Live Showdown Awards. In 2019 - "Les Misérables" won six awards, including the Auckland Live Best Production Award, and the iTicket Showdown People’s Choice Award.
