You are invited to Junk to Funk - an innovative and quirky show all in the theme of turning 'waste' into art, fashion, theatre, comedy, and music! Enjoy the creations by locals of all ages and backgrounds as they express their love for the planet!

The evening will include original music by Tanya Batt and Peter Foster alongside the Red Cross 'Weird & Wonderful' masked procession, a funky-junky music set by Kāren Hunter, a performance by island-famous Constance Maraj, comedy sketches, glow in the dark bikes, CD belly dancing by Anna Bar and MC'd by the one and only Louise Mills!

The main section of the evening will present the garments, art and usable objects created by the children and adults of Waiheke. This showcase will demonstrate the end result of their attendance at workshops, school holiday programmes, classroom sessions and home creations over the past 5 months.

This initiative has been resurrected by Island Waste Collection, inspired from past Junk to Funk shows as early as 2003, where over 1000 locals participated and enjoyed the event. We plan to grow the initiative every year, with the aim to foster community, divert waste from landfill and teach valuable skills.
