Si’oto ‘ofa! Join us in celebrating Tongan Language week with a free Kahoa workshop hosted by Sione Monū. This workshop is part of the 2023 Friends of Fresh programme - brining local creatives together in Ōtara.
This workshop connects with Sione Monū’s experimental work with nimamea'a tuikakala or the Tongan fine art of flower design. Visitors are invited to create their own kahoa or garland with fresh flowers.

Sione Tuívailala Monū (they/them) is an artist of the Tongan diaspora. They live between Canberra, Australia and Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland, and work across the mediums of photography, moving-image, fashion and adornment, performance, and drawing. Their practice explores identity, family and pasifika queer experience in the diaspora.
