Ko te Takarangi

The Māori creation story will include 7 of Dance Out Loud's dancers combined with beautiful, poetic storytelling performed by Koro Sciascia, traditional Māori music by Salvador Brown and a striking set.

Experience a multi-sensory journey through the five elements (wind, earth, fire, water and space) and their relationship to Ranginui and Papatūānuku (Sky father and earth Mother).

We are excited to have New Zealand Dance Company come over to dive into the movement opportunities. The workshop exploration will form the basis of the show's visual spectacle.

A key set piece in the show is the waharoa (entranceway) which is being created in our school holiday programme. In addition, the stage will feature a large Takarangi (spiral).
