This event is part of Conservation Week 2023.
It's Conservation Week Te Wiki Tiaki Ao Tūroa!
The Green Lab, Aperahama Te Aika Kipa from Kahukura Rongoa Māori Healing and the Styx Living Laboratory invite you to a tī kōuka (cabbage tree) weed mat-making workshop.
All of those piles of ti kouka leaves in your backyard (whether the rākau is within your boundary or not) can be put to use as something other than firelighters!
In this workshop, you will learn to make naturally biodegradable weed mats, to plant amongst and cover with the mulch of your choice. The mats we make at the workshop will remain at the Rongoa site for the harakeke.
All materials provided.
When? Thursday 17 August, 1pm-3pm.
Where? 567 Marshlands Road at the Rongoa Maori Demonstration site (click above link for location information).
In partnership with Kahukura Rongoa Maori and Styx Living Laboratory Trust.
