Meet Purna, our vocalist!
As a classical music composer, Purna was instantly intrigued when she came across mantra meditation (kirtan) at Bhakti Lounge. At this time, she had just begun a Doctor of Musical Arts in Wellington. Further exploration revealed to her a whole science of non-material sound and an uplifting lifestyle that transformed her life for the better and satisfied her search for understanding the true potential of sound. Purna loves to study the bhakti yoga texts and to make music inspired by them, with the hope that this music will be able to touch the hearts of others.
Meet Jonny, our sound healer!
Jonny's life was deeply intertwined with music from an early age, culminating in two degrees from a prestigious NYC music conservatory and a decade of professional flute playing. Yet, the demanding environment of the city eventually took a toll, manifesting as focal dystonia in his left hand, forcing him to abandon his beloved instrument. Several years later, Jonny stumbled upon the enchanting world of crystal singing bowls, rekindling his connection with sound and its healing potential. Today, he embraces various sound healing instruments, including a set of nine crystal singing bowls, Tibetan bowls, chimes, and tuning forks, utilizing their powerful vibrations to not only heal the body but also provide a sanctuary for rest and rejuvenation of the mind. Jonny is excited to share this transformative experience with others, offering a unique journey into the realm of sound healing.
