Journey with us on a majestic steam train ride from a bygone era between Blenheim and Kaikoura (a return day trip).
Travel one-way in either direction, or travel return. The choice is yours.
Departure is from Blenheim Railway Station - Enjoy a majestic heritage steam train experience from the heart of the Marlborough winelands to the coastal town of Kaikoura, known for its abundant marine wildlife, famed resident sperm whale population and dramatic mountain vistas. Follow the ‘Guardians of the Seas’ – the mountains of the Southern Alps – that rise majestically from the deep trenches of the Southern Ocean along the journey.
The WWI Memorial steam locomotive was built in 1915 and later named the “Passchendaele”, in memory of the 1917 Battle of Passchendaele (New Zealand’s most costly battle in military history). The Marlborough Flyer consists of carriages from the same WW1 period.
