Mother’s Day Organ Recital featuring Dianne Halliday

The Friends of Christ Church Organ Committee are delighted to welcome back Wellington's talented Dianne Halliday.

Dianne's programme includes Toccatta Rene Vierne, NZ's Craig Sellar Lang's Tuba tune in D Opus 15 as well as compositions by Bach and John Keeble's Voluntary.

Dianne’s bio from linked in: Born and raised in Springfield, Pennsylvania my musical interests started from a young age. With the support of my parents, I attended a number of musical camps, courses and private lessons as a young adult. After completing high school it seemed an obvious choice to apply for tertiary education at The Eastman School of Music of the University of Rochester. My undergraduate degree (B Mus) in performance and literature was the starting point for my church music career. Further qualifications include an Eastman graduate degree (M Mus), the Choir Master Certificate and, by examination, a Fellowship of the American Guild of Organists.

I moved to Wellington, New Zealand in 1983. Since that time I have been the Director of Music at a Cathedral and more recently a large inner-city church. During my tenure in both churches, I oversaw the major reconstruction of both organs, one as the result of earthquake strengthen work and the other as the result of arson.

Concurrent to both church positions I have been an active member on the Wellington Branch of the RSCM and the Wellington Organists' Association as well as maintaining an organ teaching practice. I an also a keyholder for the South Island Organ Company for the Wellington area tuning rounds, and have continued to utilise and expand on the organ-building skills I learned as a work-study participant at Eastman.
