"Hi, my name is Jay-De. I more commonly go by Jay.

I am a local artist from Taupō and I have lived here for the majority of my life. I am 17 years old and started painting during the Covid-19 lockdown to combat the feelings of isolation and loneliness I was experiencing at that time.

I have struggled for most of my life to find outlets for my emotions, and painting has really helped me express what I couldn't before. I have no formal training in art, outside of a few intermediate classes, and am completely self-taught. I mainly work with acrylics and graffiti markers, but I have also experimented with oils and charcoals.

I am very excited for this exhibition as it is my first time showing my art in a public setting."

Taupō Museum is open 7 days from 10am to 4:30pm and entry is free to Taupō District residents with proof of address. Children 0 – 18 Free, Seniors 60+ and Students $3, Adults $5
