Neotectonic Vocal Ensemble is thrilled to present our third ever concert - Origins.

Join us on Saturday 22nd April, 4.30pm, at St Peter's Anglican Church, Takapuna. Entry by Koha.

‘Origins’ is a concert of classics. This concert is our own selection of the pieces, the composers, and the music that has shaped our love for choral music through the years. Together, the selection is a patchwork of musical origins that stretches from the woven polyphony of Thomas Tallis’ ‘Lamentations of Jeremiah’ through to the vividly coloured harmonies of Howard Skempton’s ‘Rise up my love’. Along the way we wallow in some of the greats, with pieces by Rachmaninov, Bruckner, Mews, and Gjeilo.

EDIT: Communities around the North Island are still dealing with the impacts of Cyclone Gabrielle. For this reason, half of the profits from our upcoming Origins concert will be donated to the Cyclone Gabrielle Appeal Fund to help support medium and long-term recovery programs. https://www.cycloneappeal.govt.nz/about-the-fund/

Neotectonic Vocal Ensemble is a group of old friends and new faces brought together by a love for vocal ensemble music. They were founded in early 2021; since then, they have sung both early and contemporary music with all sorts in between. Their previous concerts in June 2021 and July 2022 presented repertoire ranging from Byrd, Morley, and Monteverdi, through to Elgar, Britten, and Caroline Shaw.
