Come and celebrate the arrival of Puanga with dazzling lights and glorious kai – from all around the world. This bright star heralds the start of Matariki, and calls in the new year.
Puanga means ‘abundant harvest’. Bring the whānau and relish tasty food-truck fare, live music and brilliant lights.
Join us at 7pm during Night Lights over Te Awahou to learn more about Maori starlore Matariki/Puanga and Te Whānau Marama in general.
Led by Manu Kawana, who hails from Rangitāne, Ngāti Raukawa, and Te Arawa, this kōrero centres on the significance of Matariki/Puanga and how it is celebrated.
