Calling NZ/Aotearoa’n and International Artists! Get your skates on! Entries Close on 11 October!
Also, we have a brand-new website www.mangawekagallery.com SO dig out you paints, canvases, or other medium, and start creating your ‘Masterpieces’ for the legendary Fakes & Forgeries ART Exhibition/Competition 2023.
From beginners to accomplished, anyone can enter! Celebrating 16 years since its inception, the fun, audacity and creativity of Mangaweka Fakes & Forgeries is coming on Saturday 21st of October (Labour Weekend) 2023.

With a prize pool of over $1000+ and a fun day of events planned with art exhibitions, demonstrations, markets stalls, village-wide Garage Sales and even a Massive Book Fair planned! - See Mangaweka Mega on here and sure to mark Labour Weekend in your diaries... Now!

The main Art exhibition is open to three groups, Adult section, 16 years and under, plus a special collective school's category. The theme is simple; Create an exact replica, a copy with a twist, a work 'inspired-by' or in the 'style' of a famous artwork or Artist!

The event was first inspired by world famous Art Forger Karl Sim (aka Goldie) who was actually born in the Rangitikei township of Mangaweka. He was the subject of TV1's 'Close-up', appeared on the Good Morning show and has featured in books, and many other newspaper, magazine and radio interviews, before his untimely departure to the big Art Studio in the Sky on the 21st of October 2013, meaning this year’s event will commemorate 10 years since Karl’s passing.

Mangaweka continues to honour its most famous son today, with this fun art event for all the family. Artworks need to be completed and delivered to the historic "Yellow Church" Gallery on State Highway One by Wednesday 11th October, in preparation for the big opening event on Saturday the 21st of October.
