Mindfulness4dogs are really excited to be able to host this Odour Imprint and Tracking Workshop hosted by Alex Schanzer of TautahiK9s.
Together, Alex and Bryn have been certified in Urban Search and Rescue (USAR), Live Find specialists with the NZUSAR Search Dog Association and operational team members of the New Zealand USAR Taskforce. Alex has been featured in Stuff – Know your dog’s job before adopting them, and featured on Seven Sharp – Is your dog right for you.
The olfactory abilities of our K9 friends are beyond phenomenal – it is truly their superpower!! The beauty of this, is that all dogs can do it and once taught what’s required, get a huge satisfaction from the process of hunt and reward. Scentwork can be a wonderful tool to help calm nervous or reactive dogs as well has those with a high drive disposition. It is also a great way for owner and dog to bond in a fun and rewarding exercise. This workshop will cover the basics of Odour detection and will introduce you and your dog to the world of tracking.
