Join ranger luke and owhango alive as we attempt to track down and observe the elusive and tiny bats of aotearoa! we will learn what makes these unique little animals so special, and how to support the conservation efforts being made to preserve these endangered species.

Trip length: 2.5 hours
Minumum Age: 7 years
Max Participants: 10
Meeting Place: Meet at Ohinetonga Domain around 8pm for safety briefing & information sharing during the last of the daylight hours. From there we will walk to Tawa Track in Ohintonga Scenic Reserve to observe the flight corridors once the sun sets.
Transport: Park at Owhango domain and walk to Tawa Track
Cost: Koha to support Owhango Alive
Grade: Easy walking track, some hill elevation and walking in the dark required.

Participants are asked to bring:
- Warm clothes
- Mozzie repellent
- Headtorch
- Water
- Suitable footwear

Please note: the trip leader reserves the right to refuse anyone who is insufficiently equipped.

Requires a clear night with no wind. Start times will be approximate as bats are nocturnal.
