The tradition of oral transmissions for sutra texts originates from the time of the Buddha, when the Buddha's teachings were not recorded in writing but committed to memory by monks and nuns. The oral transmission allowed for the next generation of Buddhists to receive the lineage of scriptural transmission of the Dharma and ensure its continuation (contrasted with the realised transmission of the Dharma which is achieved by practising the teachings). By receiving the lineage of oral transmission for a text, our recitation of that text is enhanced and made more powerful. Our spiritual director Za Choeje Rinpoche has not yet confirmed which sutras he will transmit to us. The transmissions will also be livestreamed here: https://youtube.com/live/2-zxRR8z36Y?feature=share
