For intermediate weavers, nau mai haere mai.

Welcome to our first of a series of module classes.

If you are confident in making kono (4 corner container), you should be good to go!

By attending a short class and a wānanga you'll make your first pōtae. We will be in the Tane Whakapiripiri Centre.

Note: We require a minimum number of ticket sales for this to go ahead in our usual koha style.

The first evening class we will teach you to add thin whenu into a kono. This demonstrates how to create and close the rim of the hat. If you can't make the evening class, we'll email you a video and / or zoom you in.

Then we'll have a wānanga for your first pōtae. After that you can bring your pōtae to our regular classes for tips to improve, adapt or learn new styles.

You will need to come to wānanga with 60 preprepared whenu at mid gauge haehae. The approx 11mm one. See image below.

We can harvest for you if you're unsure of the quality of your harakeke. Click the add-on ticket. But please book in advance.

You only need to purchase a single ticket to the wānanga to cover both classes. Ensure you enter your email address so that we can communicate with you all additional instructions.
