Tūngia te ururua kia tupu whakaritorito te tupu o te harakeke.
Set the overgrown bush alight and the new flax shoots will spring up.

Nau mai, haere mai, welcome to our first event of 2023!

Classes held aim to spread knowledge of traditional Māori weaving and healing practices utilising the native plants at Ōtari Wilton’s Bush. We thrive on bringing our surrounding community together regularly.

On this occasion, we will be making putiputi bouquets to gift to our nearest and dearest. We will even have whakakano (dyed) harakeke to add some colour to their lives.

We’ll be running two classes as we hope to be at full capacity for the first classes of the year!

Participants / ticket holders will receive a complimentary sweet treat from us for the occasion.

No experience is required. Please arrive on time for karakia (blessing).

We will also have a range of raranga and Taniwha Noa rongoā products on sale.

It is free to drop in throughout the day to see what we do and to purchase gifts.

Rongoā (Māori healing) tea and other light refreshments will be provided but you are welcome to bring shared kai.

Please BYO water bottle and (non kitchen) scissors if you can.

Children under 14 should be accompanied by an adult with a ticket.
