Come and listen to the amazing Ōwheo Quartet with Kelly Hocking as vocalist in a fabulous evening of contemporary music performed in the magnificent Drawing Room at Olveston. You will hear music reimagined for strings and piano by David Bowie, Joni Mitchell, Lorde and more.

The Ōwheo Quartet was founded in 2022 by Mark Wigglesworth to play for weddings and functions across the Otago region. The group is comprised of a range of University of Otago music department graduates, and utilise a rotating group of performers for events. Inspired by the music of Bridgerton, the group primarily performs their own arrangements of contemporary music, but also includes waiata, and classical music. The quartet utilises a piano to support the strings, giving them their own unique spin on this growing genre of music.

Kelly Hocking is a professional actor, vocalist, writer, and voice coach who studied acting at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles, California. Having performed all across New Zealand, Ōtepoti locals will recognise her from productions including “Chicago”, “Miss Saigon”, “Avenue Q”, “Priscilla Queen of the Desert”, “Mary Poppins”, “ Wicked” and her award-nominated solo show, “Thief.” Kelly is the owner and Principal teacher at The Voice Lab nz, New Zealand’s largest contemporary voice studio. In addition to coaching vocal clients throughout NZ, Kelly mentors other coaches and works alongside other voice professionals in a multidisciplinary care team providing top-level care for professional singers.
