Wellington artist Miranda Woollett's exhibition 'Possibilities'
"My art is a personal journey of discovering possibilities....constantly looking at how things could be improved or reinvented...an unpredictable outcome.
In this group of paintings, although all are based on the subject of a tree, there is a diverse result of possibilities or outcomes.
I am trying to show the audience that what we see in everyday life over and over again may not be the only possibility to accept...
there are an infinite number of ways of seeing or discovering things through art and science, we just need to be open to seeing differently".
Miranda Woollett
Miranda is a Wellington artist known for her thoughtful constructionist art, in particular her past series depicting native birds as interconnected with their environment, represented as a concept, in the abstract or symbolic. In 'Possibilities' Miranda continues her mix of abstract symbolism using the tree as the starting point. "I see my recent art as similar to a mathematic equation, as they are painted and can be viewed in many ways. I am combining abstract, figurative and symbolic elements together"
