Punialava'a was first formed in the Samoan village of Vailele in 1966 by former school teacher, Reverend Iosefa Lale Peteru. Together with friends, Reverend Peteru wrote and produced hits during the 1970s that were played by the Samoa National Broadcasting Service, and the rest is history.

In 1980 Lale met his wife Vini nee Sofara, who became the lead singer of the band.

Lale and Vini have four children, who all created music careers by picking up the mantle of the band. Viellani, Vania, Punialava'a and the baby of the family - Miss Melody.

The sounds of Punialava'a has been established for 50 years so far and inspired many Pacific artists in the music industry - with many well known artists recording and performing their songs. With songs celebrated and appreciated by all age groups, the Punialava'a's music, lyrics and metaphorical messages are authentic and true to the heart of Samoa and Pacific culture.

In 2018, Punialava'a received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Vodafone Pacific Music Awards.

Join us for this spectacular night of live entertainment featuring local supporting artists Sa'ia Frank Sola, Kini Ai'i, Waina-Lei, Junior Vailua and more!
