SANDBOX is a space for Te Tai Tokerau’s community to meet and share our mutual love for everything geek: A celebration of wonderful art, games, cosplay, animation, comics, music, tech and more! Play games, show off your cosplay, enter competitions, check out the artist alley, enjoy performances, and come together to revel in all things pop culture and beyond!

If you are looking for something more interactive, then join our esteemed facilitators in one of our engaging workshops and embark on a transformative journey into the world of cosplay crafting. We have workshops available that each run approximately 3hrs! Learn from experts, unleash your creativity, and acquire invaluable skills to elevate your cosplays to the next level. Suitable for ages 13+ and are aimed at beginners but there will be something to learn for all skill levels.

10am - Leather Costume-Prop Workshop with Chloe King
Join renowned wearable artist and costumer, Chloe King, in an immersive Leather Costume-Prop Workshop. Explore the art of leather working and create a small leather item while learning some basic skills that you can take away to use at home. With Chloe's expertise and passion for craft, you'll gain invaluable skills in working with leather to elevate your cosplays and crafts to new heights.

10am - Costume Workshop with Hayley Douglas
Step into the fascinating realm of costume making in the Costume Workshop led by Hayley Douglas. As a seasoned costume designer and maker, Hayley will guide you through the process of bringing a cloak to life while using materials that are close at hand. Learn essential techniques in fabric selection, pattern cutting, and sewing as you craft exceptional costumes under Hayley's mentorship.
