Springboard Youth Music, a gig giving young local musicians an opportunity to perform live music in Whangarei!!

The lineup consists of 6 talented up and coming acts. Performing a mixture of covers and originals over a wide range of genres, such as: Rock, Indie, Blues, Reggae, Singer/Songwriter and many more.

Ready, Set!: Heya, We're Ready, Set! A Kickass band of young, dedicated musicians looking to blow your socks off. We love all kinds of music and play a bunch of different genres, ranging from Hard Rock to a nice and mellow Indie. This year we won the 2023 Northland Region Rockquest and last year got the 2022 Northland ZM Best Song Award so you have got a lot to look forward to! We can't wait to play for everyone and we know you will enjoy your time listening to some fine tunes.

Blind Eyes: Blind Eyes is a local band who are gaining a lot of momentum among Whangārei Youth and local creatives! These guys are one of the top up and coming bands in all of Northland. They play a variety of genres and have been compared to massive bands such as Sublime & LAB but mainly have their own unique sound compared to other NZ Bands. They have wowed crowds at so many Te Tai Tokerau Event’s and have been having a great response regarding their performances and original music.

Basement: Hi we are basement, we are a 5 person band made up of students from Huanui College. We formed last year off the basis of having a bit of fun and playing a few covers together. We had our first proper gig at 116 in August which sold out and we donated $200 to the Brain Injury Association. We play many covers of old and new and our plans are to write some songs together for the near coming future.

Visual Soup: We are a 4 piece junior band who play all sorts of genres ranging from rock and pop to blues and funk. We have been regional finalists in both the 2022 and ‘23 Rockquests. We are Visual Soup.

Lucy: Alternative indie solo artist from WGHS. 17 years old with a passion for music. 2nd place at the 2023 Northland regional SFRQ.

Isabela Cameron: I’m 17, just finished my last year of high school. The genres I specialise in are indie pop andsoft pop. This year came 1st in the 2023 Northland regional Solo/Duo category. I have only started writing and performing songs this year.

Doors open at 6pm. This gig will start at 6:30pm and finish at 8:00pm. Food and soft drinks will be available via the ONEONESIX bar. So purchase your tickets right now and come support whangarei’s emerging youth music scene!

Springboard Youth Music II is proudly presented by The New Zealand Music Comission and ONEONESIX!! Without their constant support with this event we wouldn't be here so tēnā koutou!!
