Sunday Concert Series - Hot Club Soda

Te Takeretanga o Kura-hau-pō presents Sunday Concert Series, showcasing talented Aotearoa New Zealand musical artists performing across a wide range of genres and styles. The series is held on the last Sunday of the month in the Te Takeretanga o Kura-hau-pō Main Space and is entirely free of charge.

Join us in September for the funky jazz rhythms of Hot Club Soda!

Hot Club Soda is a Levin-based band originating out of the Sunday Jazz Jams held at our very own Te Takeretanga o Kura-hau-pō, featuring Kevin Watson on guitar and vocals, Berndt Reiss on bass guitar and Simon Critchley on drums. Having formed two years ago, they have rocked the house many times over for the Manawatu Jazz Club in Palmerston North.

Their repertoire consists of easy-listening guitar-based jazz, gypsy-style jazz, rhythm and blues and the occasional pop song. All members are experienced professionals and perform to a high standard, having been playing for decades!

This month they will be joined by guest musicians Michelle Scullion on the flute and Patricia Martin on vocals, so be sure to join us in the Main Space of the Library for a one-off collaboration between these incredible artists.

Additionally, the Library Cafe opens especially for these concerts, so you can have a coffee or food while enjoying some good music!
