Sunday Morning Enamelling Classes - Wellington

This Sunday morning enamelling block starts on 30 July and runs for four sessions until Sunday 20 August. It will introduce you to transparent enamels. These see-through colours lead themselves to textured surfaces on the metal, and they really “pop” on pure silver – although stunning results can be obtained on copper as well.

During this course, you will learn to work with the slightly more demanding nature of transparent enamels, as well as getting a deeper introduction to the Cloisonné technique (using wires in your design), and you will also be
shown methods to texture your metal before enamelling.

If you have done our previous enamelling blocks on opaque colours, it will certainly help to master transparent enamels. However, even if you are a novice to enamelling, you will still be able to get good results from this class. If you have experience in jewellery making, you can start thinking about creating your own “gemstones” in enamel and then incorporate these in your jewellery.

Fee includes copper, a small amount of silver, and enamel powders. Extra materials are available for purchase.
