Swim With Gaza

Since 2007 Palestinians in Gaza have been living in an open air prison. They have no parks, mountains, no valleys and no escape. But they have the sea-their only free space for fun.
According to Human Rights Watch "The closure has devastated the economy in Gaza, contributed to fragmentation of the Palestinian people, and forms part of Israeli authorities’ crimes against humanity of apartheid and persecution against millions of Palestinians."
Each year they have a swimming festival on Gaza Beach called the Gaza Swimming Carnival. This year it will be held on Saturday 26th August and in an act of solidarity we want to join thousands of people around the world.
Let's join them in the sea for a solidarity swim, or you can just dip your toes in.

Meet at East End beach near the bridge on Saturday August 26 from 2-3.30PM. We would like to take a photo to send to the people of Gaza so if possible ( not required) wear swim gear, wet suits or any clothing that has green, black white or red ( colors of Palestinian flag). If anyone has umbrellas of those colours please bring.
