Steve Abel will speak about his experience as a long-time environment and climate activist. He has an impressive record of successful advocacy engaged in campaigns to end native logging, stop the Marsden B coal-fired power station, and standing against offshore oil and gas drilling. He is a founding member of urban tree protection group Mana Rākau and most recently has worked with Greenpeace to highlight the impact of nitrate contamination on rural communities believing that access to safe drinking water is a basic right of all people.

Steve Abel takes a particular interest in the protection and restoration of forests, freshwater and oceans; and transformation of energy, and agriculture to clean and ecological methods.

Come along to listen to what Steve has to say about tackling the barriers to real climate action. There will be an opportunity to ask questions.

Steve Abel is in Stoke as part of a Top of the South speaking tour. He has innovative ideas for overcoming the legal and political barriers to effective action on climate change. He's an interesting and inspiring speaker.

This event will appeal to anyone concerned about the slow pace of change to mitigate climate change in Aotearoa, especially young people whose future is at stake. Introduced by Darcy Lawrey.

Cash only Koha Entry.
