Kia ora,

Have you ever marvelled at a werewere kōkako in the forest, been mesmerised by bracket fungi clinging to a tree or been fascinated by the mycelium web that lives under our forest floor? Take action for nature to learn about how to care for our native fungi friends!

Join Liv Sisson and Genevieve Early hosted by the Department of Conservation to celebrate Conservation Week 2023 in Arthur’s Pass National Park!

Citizen scientist and recently published author, Liv Sisson brings her passion and enthusiasm for fungi by inspiring others to explore this fascinating world! With her keen and curious eye Liv will guide you the wonders of the “pop out” effect while searching for the fungi of Arthur’s Pass.

Masters student Genevieve has been a dedicated fungi fan for the last five years, with her research leading her to explore an indigenous mushroom and its potential to help in the fight against wilding pines! As an amateur photographer she is now on a mission to photograph Aotearoa's fungi and hopes to catch sight of some rare species along the way.

Guided by your local DOC Rangers, learn about the world of fungi, their role in the ecosystems, spot them on the trails with an interactive kōrero and a short hikoi (walk) in beautiful Arthur’s Pass.
