“The exhibition explores the interconnectedness of our cultures, and ways in which we continue to honour and uphold the legacies of our ancestors in the present day. Our creative practices maintain connections to our cultural heritage, which is crucial for our sense of shared identity and belonging.”
– Shane Tuaeu Andrew and Aimee Ratana
Taura Pito, Kaula Piko: Ancestral Ties that Bind Us emphasizes the importance of intergenerational relationships, responsibilities, and care for the natural world. This exhibition regenerates connections, strengthens relationships, and showcases artworks that speak to this collective kaupapa.
After the blessing of the exhibition please join us for a conversation with the seven exhibiting artists who have travelled from Aotearoa and diverse regions across Te Moana nui a Kiwa. Together, we will delve into how ideas of connection influence their art practice.
