The Surge & The Fuzzies

Formed five years ago, The Surge are a Whangārei based trio of experienced musicians. Drummer, John, hails from Britain and is a prog rock fan. Spider was an early convert to punk rock, and play bass for The Surge. Billy is on guitar and vocals and has an ear for a good guitar hook, whether from the early days of British glam or from modern Indi pop. All the influences combine in The Surge. The Fuzzies are an alternative pop trio with more hooks than a chilli barb. Named after their big fuzzy tones, they are no slouches in the songwriting department either. After playing dozens of shows over the last five years, The Fuzzies have also been using this time to put together their debut album Cupid. Led alternately by the vocals of Niki Maera and Kelly Michael, they mix warm fuzzies with darker undertones to create their own brand of classic indie-pop. 'Cupid' Is the latest single from The Fuzzies’ debut album Cupid.

The Fuzzies are Niki Maera (Mary), Kelly Michael (Tabularasa, Enshrine) and Andrew Maitai (Powertool Records, Joed Out).
