Kia ora koutou, nau mai, haere mai to a nourishing three hour workshop for theatre and dance practitioners!

About the viewpoints
The Viewpoints is a system of movement that was adapted for theatre by Anne Bogart and Tina Landau from Mary Overlies 6 Viewpoints for dance. The Viewpoints invite us to better understand our bodies in relation to space and time.
Through a series of movement-based exercises and prompts we investigate spatial relationships, kinaesthetic response, shape, gesture, duration, tempo, architecture, floor pattern and repetition. The system gives words and a shape to what many performers instinctively understand and provide a shared vocabulary for creating work together. It is improvised movement within a set of awarenesses and is an incredible tool for connecting a group of people more deeply to themselves, each other, the space around them, the material they are working with and to their audience.

About the workshop
This three hour intensive is the second in our Viewpoints series, however if you missed the first one, you may still attend this one. The workshop will be guided by theatre-maker Lisa Allan, and will touch base with spatial relationships, kinaesthetic response and shape from workshop one and will then introduce two or three more Viewpoints- gesture, tempo and (possibly) floor pattern.

Outline for the workshop:
1. Arriving, connecting and warming up
2. Grounding in spatial relationships, kinaesthetic response and shape
3. Encountering gesture, tempo and (possibly) floor pattern
4. Warm down and reflection
This is a beautiful chance for emerging and established theatre and dance practitioners to come together, to connect and to refresh/deepen your practice.

What next?
The session is a precursor and introduction to a regular physical theatre workshop that will run in 2023, for anyone interested in training together and creating movement-based theatre as an ensemble. It is also a chance to get to know Lisa, who will be facilitating these regular workshops. There will be a Youth Troupe for 13 - 15 year olds (3.30pm - 5pm) and an adult class (5.30pm - 7pm: (Ensemble Training- https://fb.me/e/29aCR3GSS)). These will be on Mondays and will begin February 13th and run for eight weeks (term one). There will be a total of three terms in 2023.
