Every country has its own laws. New migrants need to understand the basic laws and regulations to settle well in New Zealand. This workshop includes an overview of the following:
- Work visa conditions – Immigration rules;
- Tenancy – finding a house or a flat;
- Driving rules – can you use your overseas licence?;
- Insurance – what happens when things go wrong?;
- Health and Safety - at home and at work;
- Consumer law – buying and selling;
- University rules – plagiarism and APA referencing;
- Ethical behaviour - bribery and corruption;
- Domestic violence.
This workshop will be led by Adon Kumar who is a successful migrant with over 35 years of settlement and work experience in New Zealand.
He has a background in teaching English, IT Consulting, Business, Law and Farming. He has tertiary qualifications in English (BA), Applied Linguistics (MA) and Law (LLB).
