Kia ora! Wairarapa Film Festival (Waifilmfest)) celebrates local films and filmmakers.

We are proud to present this double-bill screening of local films, with special guest Dame Gaylene Preston.

Short Film: The Pen (2001 - 2010)
Synopsis: Showcasing the droll dialogue between Conchord Jemaine Clement and animator Guy Capper, The Pen is a series of shorts in which two sheep — Robert and Sheepy — ruminate on the ovine issues that really matter.

Feature Film: Learning Fast (1980)
Director: Gaylene Preston
Synopsis: Filmed over a two-year period, it follows seven school leavers from Masterton's Mākoura College as they attempt to navigate the ins and outs of being an adult; finding work, shipping off to university, or facing pressures from parents to make the 'right decision', as they await their exam results.

Signed copies of Dame Gaylene Preston's book, Gaylene's Take will be available to purchase in the foyer at Regent 3 Cinemas, courtesy of Hedley's Books.

The Pen is supplied courtesy of Guy Capper and Jemaine Clement.
Learning Fast is supplied courtesy of Ngā Taonga Sound & Vision.
