Bay of Islands Walking Weekend
Sunday 15th October
Walk 17 – Paihia Lookout and Charlotte’s Kitchen

Ferry from Russell to Paihia, where your walk starts 700m from the centre of Paihia. This is a pleasant walk that is 4 km return (2 km each way) through regenerating native forest to a viewpoint overlooking the bay. From the viewpoint you can see the Bay from Ōpua to Waitangi and over the Russell peninsula to Urupukapuka Island and Cape Brett in the distance.

Meander back down to Charlotte’s Kitchen which is situated on the end of the Paihia Wharf in a superb spot for one of their lovely lunches. Lunch will be in the delicious Asian fusion style they are well known for. Delicious dumplings, pork bao buns to name a few of the treats on offer. The perfect way to finish the Bay of Islands Walking Weekend.

Assemble HQ: 10.30am
Depart: 10.45 am (ferry to Paihia)
Back at HQ: by 2.45pm
Duration: 4 hours
Distance: 4 km return
Grade: Medium
Maximum walkers: - 20
Cost: $40 - includes a guided walk, lunch and a drink (wine/beer/non-alcoholic/coffee) and ferry

Notes:
1. Please check what is included and the time and length of your walk so you know what you need to bring in terms of food and water. It’s always a good idea to have a card or cash on you as you never know what you might encounter along the way.
2. The Russell Bowling Club is our Walking Weekend HQ, all walks start from there.

Our guides are all passionate and knowledgeable about the Bay of Islands area and bring something special to the walking experience. Each walk has no more than 20 people. Our HQ is the Russell Bowling Club where people can meet, chat about their day and have something to eat and drink.

Russell is a fantastic base for the weekend with lots of great restaurants, places to stay and for the non-walkers out there. We are very excited about this weekend and the great walking experiences there are here in the Bay of Islands. Time to get your walking boots out of the cupboard and join us in the Bay of Islands.

Visit our website to see all the walks you can do.
