Wellington Steeplechase Day is an annual event that takes place right here at Trentham's best and is dedicated to showcasing some of the best steeplechase racing in the country. This event attracts horse racing enthusiasts from all over New Zealand and beyond, and provides a day of thrilling racing action, Fashion in the Field, entertainment, and hospitality.

The event features a variety of steeplechase and hurdle races, with some of the top horses and jockeys in New Zealand competing for prize money and bragging rights. The course includes a range of challenging obstacles, which test the horses' jumping ability, agility, and endurance. Overall, Wellington Steeplechase Day is a premier horse racing event, providing an exciting day out for the first time race-goer or the experienced punter alike! Being the off-season for the rest of the equine competing world, it’s also a favourite on the calendar for showjumpers, eventer and hunt clubs.
