Spend a full weekend immersing yourself into the world of sculptural basketry, in my studio surrounded by native bush on the footsteps of the Tararua mountain range.
Techniques you will learn in this workshop
• Sculptural twining with cotton
• Random weaving (my favourite) – with harakeke
• Looping - with wire and/or linen
We will cover a lot more such as how to harvest, store and prepare natural fibres for weaving. I will demonstrate how to make cordage with plant fibres and give you lots of inspiration how to finish/decorate your weavings.
This workshop is suitable for absolute beginners with no previous weaving experience.
Materials and tools are provided; once booking is confirmed I will send you a ‘what to bring list’ with some more suggestions.
After this workshop you will be confident in exploring these basic basketry techniques further.
I can assist with finding nearby accommodation if you need.
