Taranaki Quakers are celebrating World Quaker Day on Sunday October 1st by hosting a free public film screening.

We would be delighted if you can join us at 2 pm at the Len Lye Cinema for a short 30 minute documentary about a brief, bold and successful campaign 50 years ago to stop compulsory military training in Aotearoa New Zealand, led by a group of young people.

A panel discussion after the film screening will explore what we can learn from this campaign for our current work for peace and justice, with some of the leaders of this movement (Robert Reid who led OHMS at 19 years old) and Geoff Woolford who went to jail for his non-compliance) and Tonga Karena from Parihaka.
