Join the Friends of the Garden for this 75-minute uphill walk to explore an infrequently visited area of the gardens. We shall explore the Magpie Lawn area and the Hector Pinetum, and discover links with some of our notable leaders, with some long vistas on the way. The vegetation is both native and exotic. Topics of interest will include Yukitsuri, the Japanese system of tree support, and the return of kākā to the gardens.
Meet at the West Gate entrance on Glenmore Street, opposite Orangi Kaupapa Road, beside the Bus Stop number 5315 for the Karori bus. Cost: $5 (cash only, please).
This is part of the regular walks run by the Friends of the Wellington Botanic Garden, they run twice monthly throughout the year with a different topic every time.
Join the Friends for only $30 a year and all the walks will be free, as well as other great benefits. https://friendsofthewellingtonbotanic.wordpress.com/join-us/
