Bike The Trail 2024

Bike the Trail is a family fun event for all ages and offers an inclusive and family-friendly experience, making it a perfect day out for participants of all generations. It is a non-competitive family cycling event on the Hutt River Trail, promoting cycling as a fun, healthy, safe means of transport and recreation.

Starting at Harcourt Park in Upper Hutt, ride a distance of 21km on the Hutt River Trail, following the flow of Te Awa Kairangi Hutt River to the Riverbank Carpark in Lower Hutt. Explore the beautiful landscapes of the Hutt River Trail while cycling with your loved ones at your own pace. When you finish at the Riverbank Carpark, chill for a bit before heading back up to Harcourt Park on our free buses.

Alternatively you can also choose to do a 12km loop and cycle from Harcourt Park, Upper Hutt to Poets' Park, Upper Hutt and back.

For riders who choose to do the 21km ride to Riverbank Carpark, we do have the option of free transport back up to Harcourt Park, leaving Riverbank Carpark at staggered time between 11.30am and 3pm. If you would like to just do a one-way ride down to Riverbank Carpark and hop onto our free transport back up to Harcourt Park, please make sure you select that option when you register.

Rapid Riders: 9.30am from Harcourt Park to Riverbank Carpark
Cruisin' it Riders: 10.00am from Harcourt Park to Riverbank Carpark
Picnic Packers:10.30am from Harcourt Park to Riverbank Carpark
Poet's Park Loop Riders: 11am from Harcourt Park to Poet's Park and back

For anyone who registers before 23 February, please enjoy a 10% discount off all bike servicing services at Get Fixed Bicycle Cafe, Upper Hutt. You will need to either download the pdf of your registration or print a copy and bring it along with you to receive that discount.

You can still register on the actual day, 25 February 2024, from 8.30am at Harcourt Park. Please see our Activation staff for actual day registration.
