Explore the rare and unique plants from New Zealand through an open-air museum at Fernglen Native Plant Gardens. Join the guided tour, taken by an expert in native plants, around the gardens at 10.30 a.m. or 1 p.m. The guided tour can take from 1 to 2 hours, depending on any special interests of the group. Alternatively, you can opt for a self-guided tour, where there are labelled native plants along the way.

Discover the special history of this property, purchased by the Fisher family in 1888. Additionally, some ‘hard-to-find’ native plants will be available for sale, and enjoy nature activities and a trail tailored for children.

Ease yourself into botanical art by starting with nature journaling. Demonstration and guiding of the craft will be carried out in person by botanical artist Lesley Alexander,

Join us for a cup of Kawakawa tea to enjoy as well. The tour is free of charge. Donations are welcome. Please note that the garden is not wheelchair/pram friendly.

Fernglen Native Plant Gardens are open daily during daylight hours throughout EcoFest and the rest of the year. Feel free to choose the self-guided option any time during daylight hours, not only during Ecofest.

Immerse yourself in Fernglen’s natural beauty.

Cost: Free
