Free Falling is a sincere, and authentic recreation of the great Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers who sold 80 million albums. There are so many iconic songs by Tom Petty, that every is going to be singing along with the band. From the first hits in 1977, Breakdown and American Girl, to Refugee and Here Comes My Girl from the Damn The Torpedoes album.

The members of the band have loads of experience playing in New Zealand and Australia. They have played their own music and also worked in other tribute bands. They have even supported U2 in Wellington.

Greg White has been playing guitar since he was 12. With his band “The Actors” he supported U2 for their “Under a Blood Red Sky” tour show in the Wellington show buildings in 1984. In Free Falling, Greg brings “Tom Petty” back to life with his characteristic vocal, and guitar playing.

Greg Bates, after studying at The Wellington Conservatorium of Music in 1997, has played gigs all over New Zealand and was a full-time musician for two years. His drum style and consistency is renowned and is the anchor for the rhythm section in this tight 4-piece.

Gary Taylor, (Steely DNA, Wayne Mason, and many more) brings a very broad skill set to this band covering several member’s roles. He enjoys playing his part as the “odd-jobs boy” in singing back-up and playing a mix of electric guitar and keys.

Mark Gittings started playing bass guitar in the mid-70s with a few local Wellington pub bands. After the ‘90s playing in Australia, he returned to Wellington to front the house band at Candy O’s club.
Mark’s unique bass style compliments Greg Bates’ drumming to bring the famous Heartbreakers rhythm section to life.

Make sure your voice is in good order.
