He Ara Kotahi, Hei Ara Kōrero digital storytelling experience enables visitors to access pūrākau, oral histories and historical recreations of life on the Manawatū awa.

Experience the stories along the Manawatū river itself, where visitors can access a mobile tour of each significant site via QR codes on markers placed at six locations. In addition to the stories, visitors can use augmented reality to see what each site looked like in the time of the tūpuna creating an exciting new perspective on the rich history of the Manawatū and its people.

Explore the interactive online map to go back in time along the Manawatū river to see the network of pā and kāinga that once flourished here and what they looked like, while listening to interviews and stories from our local experts and also children’s stories told through graphic novels.

Join us to celebrate this new, innovative addition to the region at this public launch, with karakia, kai, and waiata.

There will be free scooter rides available (for riders 18+ years-old ), sponsored by Flamingo, from 11.30am to 3.30pm.
