The 3 hour Inky Art Afternoon will provide you with a creative playground of stamps to print patterns galore! Let your mind off the hook and get lost in some therapeutic mark making in textile printing.

You will print an abundance of sample designs on calico. Then you will decorate your pieces of Linen to take home. This is an ideal workshop for those crafty souls, that will sew their printed fabric into a couple of cushion covers.

Mark-making allows us to express a unique and personal style through gestures that have a physical connection to us. The process of mark-making helps to celebrate surprises and respect the unexpected. It’s also a way to welcome serendipity and mindfulness. We will begin by exploring different ways of producing marks, using non-traditional tools, which might include random bits of rubbish and life’s detritus and debris such as string, offcuts of cardboard, nails, packaging etc

Once we have our collections, the next stage is for a little more reflection and observation. Taking notice, paying attention to what speaks to you. Discovering what we’re interested in, what we like and what is working. The next stage is moving from inquiry to application. How can we use what we’ve discovered for a textile print and how we can develop it into a textile design? We will then cover some simple but effective stencil design and masking techniques.

We will finish the Arty Ink Afternoon creating our final printed piece onto linen. Big enough to make a single 45cm square cushion.

WHAT TO BRING?
The session fee includes all materials to for you to enjoy a fun afternoon.
