Ira Mitchell Artist In Residence and Exhibition

Award winning, Queenstown born painter Ira Mitchell will be in residence for 1 week at Riverside Gallery showing an exhibition of original works. Ira's distinctive paintings feature stunning NZ landmarks and scenery, with the exhibition placing a special focus on works of the lower South Island. There will also be a limited selection of prints available which Ira will be happy to sign between 12-3pm each day.

Ira Mitchell is delighted to be coming to paint in the Central Otago area. Recently returned from a successful showing at the Carrousel du Lourve, Paris and an artist's residency in New York, where she was inspired in new directions in her practice, Ira will be spending 10 days as Artist in Residence at Riverside Gallery in Bannockburn. During this time she will be working on new works featuring the region, while also exhibiting a selection of current original works at Riverside Gallery.

Queenstown-born artist Ira Mitchell is a trained teacher and BFA graduate. She is also an artist-educator for Golden paints of New York, where she travels annually to train and show. A nomad by nature, she moves constantly to create images in locations that inspire her. She is the recipient of numerous awards and is well known for her vibrant landscape paintings featuring iconic New Zealand landscapes. Ira also works with the Ministry of Education as a Creative in Schools, creating whole school art projects.

Ira will be available daily on exhibition days from 12pm-3pm to discuss her work and, alongside her original paintings, the gallery will be selling a selection of prints that Ira would be happy to sign or dedicate.
