Our popular weeknight classes are the best way for beginners to get into jewellery-making in a lively, warm and friendly environment. It starts on Tue 11 June and runs for 8 weeks until Tue 30 July 5.30pm-8pm.

Beginners will focus on cabochon stone set ring. The stone setting process teaches you many fundamental techniques in one project!

We start with basic ring making in copper or brass, students will learn measuring, texturing, shaping, cutting and soldering.

Then we move on to making a practice ring set with a cabochon stone (cabochon means it has a flat bottom and a smooth domed top).

Once your first setting is completed you can move to working in silver and produce another stone set ring with more interesting design elements.

Advanced students will focus on Chain Making and other projects.

Included in the class fee are copper and brass for practising on, up to 8 grams of sterling silver, an extra $8 for stones and fine silver and all consumables such as sandpaper, solder and chemicals. Extra metals and materials are available for purchase in the studio.
