Invitation to the 2024 Matakana War Memorial Anzac Day Remembrance Service

We invite you to attend the Matakana War Memorial Anzac Day Service on April 25th, 2024, at 10am. This solemn occasion is a time to reflect and honor the brave souls who served and sacrificed for our nation. The service will be conducted under the guidance of Master of Ceremonies Christopher Sotheran. Please join us in the spirit of remembrance and community unity.

This year, we are privileged to have Rochelle Paice as our commemorative speaker. Ms. Paice, an intensive care nurse, emergency civil defence medic, and volunteer firefighter, embodies the spirit of service. She will share poignant narratives about the life and challenges faced by medics on the battlefields of France during World War I. Her insights promise to add a deeply personal touch to our understanding of these heroes' contributions.

Highlighting the ceremony will be a return performance by the young and talented bugler, Macy Rodgers. After captivating us last year, Macy returns to perform the moving pieces, "The Last Post" and "The Rouse." Her renditions are not just musical notes but echoes of our collective history and respect for those who have gone before us. We encourage you to arrive early to experience the Service Parade and secure a good vantage point.

Ample parking is available next to Matakana School, and several local restaurants will be open early for an ANZAC Breakfast or lunch.
