Milton is like the narrow point of the funnel that everyone travelling from Dunedin, to places south, east and west, passes through. That makes it a great place for a weekly market, and the eye-catching historic Tokomairiro Church is a beautiful venue. If the weather gets bad, too windy or wet, the market is held in the spacious gym behind the church. The church is open to visit, during market hours.
Some stalls are at the market every weekend, like the sausage sizzle featuring Milton-made beef sausages, and others less regularly. There is always a variety of stalls: handcrafts, new and secondhand goods. You never know what you might find.
Please BYO cash, some stalls have eftpos but most rely on cash, because it's someone's hobby, a community fundraiser or a garage sale. Don't worry if you forget, Milton has two ATMs a short distance from the market.
